Why do so many people like Ghostbusters?

I watched it in my Art of Film class and I gotta say it was pretty overrated. The jokes are corny and the plot is simplistic.

It makes me feel as though comedy has really evolved a lot since then. But then I find out that The Goonies came out a year later. That movie was so damn hilarious.

And then Dr. Strangelove, a really old movie from the 60's, knocked Ghostbusters over it's ass when I first saw it.

What gives? Why do people even reference it in a show like The Simpsons(back when it was still funny)?

Well, Bill Murray is funny. Really funny. Dan Aykyroyd is really funny. Harold Ramis is really funny. They're all really funny together.

Hence, the movie is funny. If you don't like it, you probably are a ghost.

Maybe newer generations won't find the humour in Ghostbusters at all. My dad sees the humour in the Carry On movie series while I don't find them funny at all.

I like the Ghostbusters.

People like "Ghostbusters" mainly because it's funny, the characters are well-written, good special effects for it's time, and the nostalgia factor.

You probably don't like it because you can't connect to the actors/characters or share that certain sense of humor. And no, it's not because it's old. We still have movies with similar humor to this day.

Its probably because we use the jokes today or something. Maybe the next generation will think the most funniest movie will be bad.

It could definitely be a generational thing. I know people who hate Rodney Dangerfield, yet most adults love him and he's my favorite comedian of all time.
