Environmentally friendly. what a load of crap. No one will care now but just wait until they start doing it on their other games.

Not really. IN-Game tutorials, FTW.

Yeah like Knights in the Nightmare 9 hour tutorial AMIRITE? Have you ever played MMO or RTS games? Back in the day those games would come with 200 fucking page manuals that taught you everything.

^^

I'm mainly an RTS gamer. I used to be hardcore into the MMO scene back in the day.

You have to be pretty fucking moronic if you can't follow instructions in RTS's nowadays. Most modern RTS games are relatively simple to learn and if not can be learned in about 10 minutes. MMO games pretty much all play the same now

?

I don't think you know what you're talking about. I said manuals are better than ingame tutorials (indirectly). Even outside of those genres games like Knights in the Knightmare and Blazblue Calamity Trigger have the shittiest ingame tutorials. But yeah you're right. You can master an RTS in 10 minutes. Master? I said you can LEARN how to play. I don't care how many times you read through that 200-page manual. You aren't going to be a master. You think people like Husky became masters via reading manuals? Please.

Don't get me wrong. This isn't a good thing. But it's not a big deal that they're removing these manuals.

Personally, I don't even care. Hell, the last tutorial I read was for Deus Ex.

BlazBlue CT had an ingame tutorial?

Yeah you learn to move how to move your units around and build stuff in 10 minutes. But that's about it really and manuals help you learn the basics and intermediate tactics pretty quickly. Manuals are a lot more helpful than ingame tutorials (or they at least were). And I use what's called an index btw. Wink

My problem with this is that ingame tutorials unless they're shooters or something are pretty shitty. I remember the tutorial in CNC Red Alert 3 which was pretty helpless but it had a decent (although small) manual which gave me the gist of things. And then you got games like Blazblue where all I want to learn are a couple of counters but it has a shitty 2 page manual and a 3 hour long tutorial.

Plus some games had the backstory of what was going on in the game like the first Starcraft which was really cool. I'm not sure if the second does I don't have it. WoW had a really good manual too and was pretty helpful as it was the first MMO I played.

I don't about the manuals for EA games really besides CNC but now that EA's doing it other Pubs will probably start doing it too.

Manuals are like agreements. Nobody gives a fuck about them not even the makers....

We are going to die, and that makes us the lucky ones. Most people are never going to die because they are never going to be born. The potential people who could have been here in my place but who will in fact never see the light of day outnumber the sand grains of Sahara. Certainly those unborn ghosts include greater poets than Keats, scientists greater than Newton. We know this because the set of possible people allowed by our DNA so massively outnumbers the set of actual people. In the teeth of these stupefying odds it is you and I, in our ordinariness, that are here. We privileged few, who won the lottery of birth against all odds, how dare we whine at our inevitable return to that prior state, from which the vast majority have never stirred.

I just like manuals for the novelty effect. They were cool. Kinda nostalgic.

This kid when I was in high school brought his Far Cry 2 manual to school I was like WUT.
