Lykos, if you like stoner films then I recommend checking out The Big Lebowski. It's got great writing, great characters, and some real mindfuck LSD moments with great music backing.

Also it's one of the most quotable movies of all time.

Nah I don't particularly like stoner films for the sake of it. I just thought Pineapple Express was hilarious (I dunno, maybe sober(?) it wouldn't be as good lol)

Since I can't really remember the last movie I saw, I might as well rate avatar.

The graphics of the movie are awesome, and the action scenes were nice. But that is pretty much it. The story seemed generic, it's Pocahontas with guns and aliens basically. Plus the ending was pretty weak and seemed more like what you would have wanted to happen rather then what actually should have happened (even I thought of a better battle plan then the generic military sergeant guy).

I watched Glory yesterday. It was about Colonel Shaw leading a black troop during the Civil War. It was really really good. It had great acting and was pretty moving. 10/10

I really liked this movie as well, and I think it's one of the best war films of all time. It's quite nice to see Broderick do a decent job. He rarely does. The only other time I actually liked him was in Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

I thought the ending was kind of embarrassing.

When Shaw was dumped on (Denzel Washington's?) body.

They were like necro-bro hugging.

Before the Devil Knows You're Dead (Sidney Lumet, 2007) -- ****
+Fantastic performances by Philip Seymour Hoffman and Ethan Hawke
+Nonlinear plot structure
+Emotionally moving

The Fountain (Darren Aronofsky, 2006) -- **
+Good acting by Hugh Jackman
+Great premise
-Messy plot
-Boring dialog
-Shallow characters

The Virgin Suicides (Sofia Coppola, 1999) -- ***½
+Great performances by Kirsten Dunst, James Woods, and Kathleen Turner
+Little happens, yet so much does beneath the surface (a trademark of Sofia Coppola's direction)
+Emotionally moving

Burn Notice: The Fall of Sam Axe (Jeffrey Donovan, 2011) -- **½
+Good performance by Bruce Campbell
-Incredibly predictable
-Lack of narration by Jeffrey Donovan, which makes the show awesome

I watched Mississippi Burning this week in class, unfortunately, I missed a day and about 1/3 of the movie, but it was still pretty good. Really gives you some insight on how bad black people had it in the 60's. Pretty shitty when the police are working with the KKK. 4/5

Black Hawk Down, good war movie without too much of what i like to call the "We Were Soldiers Effect" aka "tell my wife i love her" as they are dying.

Realistic and gritty with enough politics thrown in to make it interesting without clouding the purpose of the film which was to show the soldiers experience. The characters are easy to identify and all have unique personalities and cn be related to.

Not totally historically accurate as the Pakistani and other nations were shown simply taking the americans out the war zone when in reality they were fighting aswell. But i suppose this was a film made for american audiences so whatever.

Also the debut feature of one of my favorite actors Tom Hardy.

8.5/10

Watched Inception again. 10/10
Best movie ever imho.
Good action, good story and good acting.
Even though its action it still feels smart and not just cheesy.

Kung Fu Panda 2

The plot was excellent and explained some of the mysteries of the old movie aswell adding a new twist to it. And as always Jack Black is just pure gold.

Pirates of the Caribbean... 4? The new one.

In 3D Very Happy And not that up in the face 3D. The plot was good and the acting was nice. Worth watching IMO.

Unknown (Jaume Collet-Sera, 2011) -- ***
+ Solid acting by Liam Neeson.
+ The action scenes are well-shot.
+ Most of the questions are answered.
- The plot twist doesn't gradually unravel, but rather is explained by one of the characters.
- January Jones is a terrible actress.

Super 8

Decent. I really didn't like it very much. Nothing really stood out at all. Just another Alien invasion movie.

Cowboys & Aliens -- ***
This movie was pretty awesome. The characters were all-around good, and the film handled both the Western and science fiction aspects very well. The action was also very good and there were some frightening scenes as well.

Inglourious Basterds -- ****
This is one of the best films of 2009. The acting is all-around great, and this film combines dark, clever humor with over-the-top action. The film is also unpredictable as most Tarantino films are.

Boyz n the Hood -- ****
The film provides some interesting and tragic insight into the life of three boys living in a ghetto. The film is a bit predictable, but it's very well-written and very sad.

Million Dollar Baby -- ***½
The boxing scenes are well-shot and the ending in very tragic. The acting is also fantastic.

Bad Lieutenant -- **½
Harvey Keitel does a great job in the title role but the movie drags on at times and is very graphic.
