 | Subject: Wii 2 E3 reveal would be 'no surprise' Sun 13 Mar 2011 - 16:29 | |
| | Quote: | Nintendo needs to 'catch up' with its hardware tech, and the revelation of a new Nintendo console at this year's E3 expo in June would come as no surprise, according to industry analyst Arvind Bhatia.
Nintendo's more affordable approach to the current generation of consoles means the lower-priced Wii is significantly underpowered when compared to Sony and Microsoft's high performance, high-definition machines.
Bhatia doesn't expect Sony or MS to introduce updates to their consoles for 'the next two to three years at the absolute least', according to Gamasutra, but reckons Nintendo's need to update is more urgent.
The Stern Agee analyst reckons Nintendo could be preparing to reveal something pertaining to the Wii's successor this year, even if it doesn't show the hardware itself.
"We would not be surprised if Nintendo unveiled the specifications of its next console at E3 in June this year, followed by product introduction early next year," he told Gama.
A recent survey estimates that almost half of the Wii owners in UK haven't played their console in the past six months |
What are your thoughts? I don't think it will be a wii 2 since the motion control trick is now to obvious and they never have a console with the same name.
But its a great marketing trick since the sales of the wii is already dying in sales since everyone already owns one.

| I haven't touched my Wii in 3 months. The only thing that keeps me coming for more is Nintendo 1st party games. |

| I think if Nintendo gets rid of the motion controls as their main focus, I'll be a Nintendo fanboy again.
One could only hope. |

Yeah but then again look at the gamecube sales and then the wii sales. =/ Nintendo needs to come up with something great to appeal the core market and keep making huge profit like the wii.___________________________ We are going to die, and that makes us the lucky ones. I only bought one a month ago. Stfu lol
I reckon there will be a new Wii system (but not called Wii 2) either this year or next year. But recent games have shown there's more power to the wii than we originally thought. |
