| http://www.destructoid.com/psn-outage-sees-ps3-trade-ins-xbox-360-purchases-200986.phtml | Quote: | It would appear that the extended PlayStation Network downtime has started to hit the console at retail, with increased reports of PS3 owners trading in their black box o' Blu-ray to get an Xbox 360. Apparently, paying for online play is better than no online play at all.
"In the first week of downtime we did not really see any major change in sales or trades," said one store manager. "However from the second week onwards we have seen an increase of over 200% on PS3 consoles being traded in, split almost 50/50 between those trading for cash and those taking a 360 instead.”
One Belgian retailer said he'd noticed a dramatic change in the way consoles are being traded: "At the end of each month people come to sell their consoles. People that need money [to pay bills]. What’s different this time around is that that they are bringing in PS3s together with all their games and they don’t want money, they want an Xbox 360. In every case it is because of Black Ops and/or Modern Warfare 2."
As much as one could write off the traders as frag-heads who just want to play Call of Duty, one cannot really deny that the COD-playing frag-head is a crucial demographic that no platform holder needs to lose. Of course, Sony loyalists will stick with the PS3 through thick and thin, but it seems that the larger demographic may not seem so forgiving. |
TL;DR PS3 trade ins have increased by 200%. Then they buy an Xbox along with a copy of Modern Warfare 2 or Black Ops. |

| Well I guess the PSN thing doesn't help. But it's obvious that Call of Duty is better on Xbox, with DLC first and better framerate and such. |

| Wow, over 200% increase of ps3's being traded in. That's quite a figure. It would have been way less if Sony had got psn sorted out sooner.

Better framerate as in the framerate is better.
I can't say I'm shocked. I personally would never trade in my baby, but I get why people are. It's just funny that they're buying Call of Duty. You would think PS3 owners would wanna try something new to them like Halo, but I guess if they're playing MW2 or BO on 360, then they probably owned it on PS3.___________________________ Check out my blog, MAG Journal! |

Activision/Treyarch made Black Ops purposely worse on PS3, the framrate is just awful among a ton of other problems.___________________________ |

Dude do you have any idea how stupid you sound. Treyarch did not purposely make it worse on PS3, it's just an inferior port. |

Right right, so they make WaW with no problems but as soon as Activision signs a deal with MS then suddenly Treyarch forgets how to make a decent port of a game despite it being the exact engine WaW used. And to compound it they take far too long to "fix" it which actually made it worse. It was even reported to the trading standards.
Clearly there was foul play. ___________________________ |

Most people are never going to die because they are never going to be born. The potential people who could have been here in my place but who will in fact never see the light of day outnumber the sand grains of Sahara. Certainly those unborn ghosts include greater poets than Keats, scientists greater than Newton. We know this because the set of possible people allowed by our DNA so massively outnumbers the set of actual people. In the teeth of these stupefying odds it is you and I, in our ordinariness, that are here. We privileged few, who won the lottery of birth against all odds, how dare we whine at our inevitable return to that prior state, from which the vast majority have never stirred. - Richard Dawkins |

They most likely just got cocky with the game and figured people would buy it anyway so they only put half a thought into the PS3 port. I doubt it was intentional.___________________________ Check out my blog, MAG Journal! |

| I'm still not going to back to 60$ a year. I'm not happy with PSN, but it's not gonna sway me enough to get a new console again. ___________________________ You bosh'tet! - Tali vas Normandy.
