It's evident on games like Call Of Duty, when you have those people who camp obsessively just to get those numbers at the end of the game. Rather than explore the map and have equal chances of dying as opponents, they stay in the same place just because they want the high score.
It's led me to believe that most shooting game fans aren't true gamers, they are just trying to get an online street-cred

Of course, not everyone who likes shooting games is like that but in general, would you agree or disagree?



Also, while we are on this topic, to you what makes a game a game?
To me it's the immersion, a verisimilitude, another world I can feel I'm in.

I know quite a few people who just buy shooters, primarily CoD games and they are NOT gamers. You would never see them play a Fable, Elder Scrolls, Uncharted or Mass Effect type game. They just play FPS's and I really don't see the appeal of sticking to one genre, especially when it's such a shallow genre at that.

So I say sort of. Not fair to generalize all FPS fans as non-gamers.

Of course they are gamers. Zeratul is absolutely right. If you play games, you're a gamer. They're just not as diverse in their tastes, nothing wrong with that.

Ah, well it's very easy to call someone just a gamer. Of course, I must have been a gamer when I was a toddler because I played minesweeper on a computer. But really, I mean that these guys don't play games to appreciate the gameplay. They do it for the scores. How is it fun to remain dormant throughout the entire match except to do the odd kniving or noobtubing here and there?
Real gamers don't do that, gamers accept occasional challenges. Okay, it's not just shooter fans but camping shooter fans (and also shooter fans who don't appreciate other genres, they just like the more mindless ones).

They are gamers that like shooters, thats how i see it.

I play games more for fun then score and I think everyone should really.

But I really get annoyed on NFS Shift online, no one drives like they would in real life. If you're at a corner and there's someone behind you, you are bound to get smashed and spun out. Its like bumper cars and I wouldn't consider that playing fairly. :/
